CULTURAL MODELS OF NATURE ACROSS CULTURES

Primary Food Producers and Climate Change

THE RESEARCH PROJECT

With funding from the National Science Foundation, we have investigated cultural models of Nature held by food-producing groups who directly experience the effects of climate change, like farmers, fishermen, herders, and hunter-gatherers. We hope to better understand behaviors that could impact conservation and climate change policy implementation.

14 communities of food-producers in 14 countries on 6 continents are involved.

16 scholars are working on this research,

2 graduate students and 3 undergraduates assist them.
